Thanks to all who presented today. The presentations were AWESOME. This is what I felt (and I think a lot of the class felt) as we listened this morning:

Going Forward

Thanks to all that came to class yesterday and worked on creating/finishing your final presentations. Please see the presentation schedule below and prepare for a 10 minute oral presentation on your due date!

Some of you are still working on your final projects/papers. As you do this, I want to circle back to our discussions at the beginning of the semester. The quote below sums up the philosophy of our class—you will come upon many “formulas” for writing in the academy but I hope what we learned this semester will help you re-purpose your skills for all the writing you do going forward:

Each writing context is analyzed and approached with consideration to genre, medium, audience, and purpose. Writers apply skill sets from one writing context to another, adapting practices as needed. This is an elastic self-image, not constrained by any one set of formulas.”

You can read the rest of this article here: http://www.hybridpedagogy.com/journal/bring-your-own-disruption-rhizomatic-learning-in-the-composition-class/

My favorite part:

Hemingway noted, “[Writers] are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.”

We are always writers and students of writing in all the rhetorical contexts of our lives.

Friday, May 1st: Wrapping up

Hi & thanks to all that handed in your FINAL papers or projects yesterday! Exciting.

I know a lot of us are feeling like this guy—but HANG IN THERE–IT’S ALMOST OVER!!

endofsemester

Please bring your final work in if you have not done this yet on Friday.

Friday we will be discussing presentations; you should come in prepared to describe what yours will look like. Plan on a 10 minute presentation. Remember to pretend that you are the audience as you are creating your presentation. What would make it interesting/exciting to you?

Here is a generic presentation rubric. We will also go over this on Friday. Use this to grade yours:

Class Tuesday 4/21

Happy Monday! I am looking forward to seeing all projects & papers in tomorrow’s class.

If you are working on a paper, please bring in a hard copy to hand in to me, preferably including a Works Cited page.

If yours is a digital project, please make sure you have a working link to send me and that your project includes a Works Cited page as well.

The more complete your work is, the more detailed feedback I can give you toward your final copies due next Tuesday, 4/28!!
